Why have my prices change at checkout?
1. The website location setting differs to the delivery address entered at checkout. This can happen if:
- The automated country recommendation pop up was declined
- Your current location is not your home country
- You wish to send your order to an address outside your home country
- A different country or region has been selected while browsing
- The location service has incorrectly identified your location
- You are using a VPN
In this scenario prices will update at checkout to align with the requirements of the selected delivery country.
2. The value of your order has exceeded your country's tax pre-collection threshold. This applies to:
- All EU countries
- Australia
- Singapore
- New Zealand
- Norway
These countries have a tax pre-collection process that enables tax to be collected at the point of sale. Each country has a collection threshold at which point it is no longer collected at checkout but is instead assessed by your country's customs authority. This assessment will include VAT / GST, import fees and customs duties. The courier will also add an administration fee to the total amount.
Any charges raised must be paid to the courier PRIOR to your order being released for delivery and will include an additional administration fee from the courier.
The thresholds are calculated on the total order value excluding tax and shipping costs:
- EU €150
- Australia A$1,000
- Singapore SG$400 (~£235)
- New Zealand NZ$1,000
- Norway - orders where any individual item value exceeds 3,000 NOK (~£225)
Customs, Duties, VAT & Import Taxes
EU & IOSS - Supply VAT will be collected on all EU orders up to a value of €150 excluding VAT and shipping. VAT is charged on all items including shipping, insurance, and any other charges related to the order. You'll see the VAT charge in the order total at checkout. Packages will be marked with contents, value and our IOSS registration number. No further VAT charges will apply although a small number of countries apply a modest admin fee to receive your item. All EU orders over €150 will not include VAT and will be subject to local customs charges prior to delivery. In practice it is paid to the courier as part of customs clearing process.
Canary Islands - do not participate in the IOSS process. All orders will not include VAT and will be subject to local customs charges prior to delivery. You will be invoiced by the courier and the fee must be paid before the item can be delivered.
Norway & VOEC - VAT is collected on orders that include any individual item values at 3,000 NOK or above. You'll see the VAT charge in the order total at checkout. We do not collect VAT on items with a value above 3,000 NOK. However, orders will be subject to local customs charges prior to delivery. In practice it is paid to the courier as part of customs clearing process.
AU & NZ - VAT is collected on all Australian and New Zealand orders up to a value of A$1,000 / NZ$1,000, excluding tax and shipping. VAT is charged on all items including shipping, insurance, and any other charges related to the order. Packages will be marked with contents, value and our ABN / IRD registration number. No further VAT charges will apply. All AU/NZ orders over $1,000 will not include VAT and will be subject to local customs charges prior to delivery. In practice it is paid to the courier as part of customs clearing process.
Singapore GST - GST will be collected on all Singapore orders up to a value of SG$400, excluding tax and shipping. GST is charged on all items including shipping, insurance, and any other charges related to the order. Packages will be marked with contents, value and our GST registration number. No further GST charges will apply. GST on purchases valued at over SG$400 will not include GST and will be subject to local customs charges prior to delivery. In practice it is paid to the courier as part of customs clearing process.
US Sales Tax - Tax laws vary between states, and sales tax may be required to be collected by us or paid directly by the buyer. If your delivery address is in one of the US states where we are required to charge sales tax, it will be included in the order total at checkout. You may still have to pay any duty and customs processing fees.
Aside from the charges listed above, and for all other countries not listed, any import costs, import VAT, duty, customs fees and courier admin charges are the sole responsibility of the customer.
If you refuse to pay the fees the package may either be returned to us or may be destroyed by the customs authority or courier. If it is returned a refund will only be issued once we have confirmed receipt. A deduction for postage costs will be applied. If the package is destroyed or is not returned for any other reason, no refund will be given.
